Meetings

Public Welcome

Regular meetings of the Tuscarora Lapidary Society are held at 7:30PM on the second Wednesday of each month at the Springfield Township Municipal Building, 50 Powell Road, Springfield, PA 19064.

The Society holds a dinner meeting and awards presentation once per year in June at a local restaurant. There are no meetings in July and August.

Some meetings may be held by Zoom.  Check the individual meeting for details.

Visitors are always welcome — just walk in and introduce yourself. A special program, an auction, or presentation on lapidary or related topics follows a brief business meeting.

If a meeting has to be cancelled due to the weather, a message to that effect should be available on 610-490-5252 by 4 PM on the meeting date.

April 10, 2024

Springfield Township Building , 7:30PM

In addition to the pleasure we all get out of making something beautiful out of slabs of rock, sheets of metal, or rods of glass, there is the excitement of sharing those creations with others. One of the many ways we can do that is by exhibiting work at Gemarama.

Those who have not yet participated as a Gemarama exhibitor may have questions: How do I apply? How big are the cases, and do I need my own? Can I exhibit with someone else? Who sets up the cases and takes them down? And what makes a good display – do I need to relate my display to the Gemarama theme?

Our April 2024 general meeting program is designed to answer all these questions and more. Even if you aren’t sure you’re ready to put together an exhibit, you can come and find out how it’s done. As part of the program, we will share slides of examples of cases from terrific Gemarama exhibits over the past two years, along with some step-by-step guides to some of our members’ inspirations and creative processes. We will go over how the cases are put together and taken down, and we will have a large case liner and a small case on display for you to inspect.

Our Gemarama exhibits chair of more than 20 years, Bill Mattis, will run the program with assistance from Tina Brunner, Adam Weschler, Christina Groff, and Kathy López.
